Do I need a reservation? If so, how far in advance do I need to reserve?
Reservations are strongly recommended. We encourage you to call to make your pet’s reservation as soon as you know make your own hotel reservation – especially if you will be visiting during a holiday or school vacation week when we tend to be fully booked. Please call our reservations staff at 877-493-9738; if your call goes to voice mail, leave a message so we can call you back.

What is your deposit and cancellation policy?
Deposits for any reservation may be taken at Best Friends discretion. For our luxury suites (VIPs and Vacation Villas), we require a deposit equivalent to one day’s stay. The deposit is fully refundable if you cancel at least two full days prior to your scheduled arrival date.Our reservations staff will go over all of this with you when you call to make your pet’s reservation.

Will you board my pet even if I am not staying in one of the hotels on the Walt Disney World® Resort property?
Yes. Best Friends Pet Resort welcomes all pets, regardless of where the family is staying. Residents of the local community are also welcome to use our services. We do offer special discounts for Walt Disney World® Resort guests. Please see the Rates page for details.

Are you open 7 days a week? What are your hours?
Yes, we are open 365 days a year. Operating hours vary based upon Park hours, but we are generally open from one hour before the the earliest park opening to one hour after the latest park closing. Please check the schedule before you arrive. Although we are not open to the public 24 hours, the center is staffed around the clock to accommodate clients experiencing travel delays or other emergencies. Extra charges will be incurred when checking in between 12:00 am to 7:00 am.

Can I board my pet just during the day?
Yes, we offer day care for day-visitors and vacationers staying off-property. You are welcome to leave your pet with us during the day while you enjoy the Parks, as long as he is checked-out before closing. Please be sure to check the schedule at drop off.

How early can I drop off for day care? How late can I pick up?
You may pick up/drop off anytime during operating hours. Day care rates depend upon the number of hours you leave your pet. Please see the Rates page for details.

Do you stay open for Extra-Magic hours?

Yes, we follow Walt Disney World’s Extra Magic schedule for resort guests.

Can I visit my pets during the day? When?
You are welcome to visit your pet anytime during our regular operating hours. Plan to spend time with him in the dog park or on the walking trail. (Dog park hours vary during the year, so please check with us at the time of your visit.) If your pet suffers from separation anxiety, be sure to schedule ample time for the visit.

What’s the best time to visit my pet to avoid long lines?
Customer patterns vary depending upon the time of year and day of the week, but the lobby tends to be busiest first thing in the morning as daycare clients check in and again around noon when overnight boarding clients check out. It also can be busy around dinner time, when resort guests visit their pets. For the shortest wait, try to visit mid-morning or mid- afternoon.

I have several pets. Can they share a suite or condo?
Yes, dogs from the same household may share a suite, and cats from the same household may share a condo. The Rates page provides details on our multiple pet discounts. Please note that we do not permit dogs and cats to board together.

How many dogs can board together in one suite?
It depends upon the size of your pets and the size of the suite you choose. If you would like your pets to share a suite, please discuss this with the customer service representative when you make your reservation so we can help you select a suite that will be large enough to accommodate the pets comfortably. Also, for the safety and comfort of the pets, please note that only pets from the same household may share a suite.

Do you accept all breeds and sizes?
Best Friends does not discriminate against any breeds of dogs. If you have any concerns about how your pet will react to the boarding environment, please discuss your pet’s specific needs with a customer service representative.

Are there any age limits on the dogs you will accept?
For their own welfare, puppies and kittens must be old enough to have received a full set of the required vaccinations. Elderly pets must be in good health with bladder and bowel control, and be mobile and able to get up and down without assistance

My dog is not dog-friendly. Will you still board him?
We accept all kinds of pets, but please advise the customer service representative that your pet does not enjoy socializing with other dogs. We will do our best to place him in a quieter area of the facility.

My dog is shy and sometimes aggressive. Can he board with you?
In order to properly care for your pet, our staff must be able to interact with him. If your dog responds aggressively to people he does not know, please discuss this with a customer service representative when you make your reservation.

Do you provide pick up/drop off to my hotel?

We do not offer transportation services.

What happens if my pet gets sick?
If your pet becomes ill during his stay, we will contact you immediately. If you would like to seek medical attention, we can direct you to one of several animal hospitals nearby.

Is there someone on duty in the kennel 24/7?
Yes. There is an associate on duty around the clock, even when we are not open to the public.

My pet’s on medication which must be refrigerated. Can you accommodate this?
Yes. We have a well-equipped kitchen with refrigerator and microwave. We can refrigerate food and medicine, and we can heat your pet’s food, if desired. If your pet has special health or dietary needs, please let us know when you make your reservation.

Can I bring my dog’s bed from home?
We provide comfortable bedding appropriately sized for your pet in every suite. Please do not bring beds or blankets from home; they can be lost or damaged. You can also check our “What to Bring” page for a list of items you should and should not pack for your pet.

Should I bring food and treats?
Food is included in your pet’s stay, so you do not need to bring it unless your pet is on a special diet. You are welcome to bring and treats from home, or you can purchase them when you arrive. Please see our “What to Bring” page for details.

What do you mean by “proof of current vaccination”?
We require a document on your veterinarian’s stationery showing that your pet’s inoculations are current. You may bring a copy with you to show us a check-in, or you may ask your vet’s office to fax it to us in advance at 203-840-5207.

Requirements for Dogs: DHPPv/DA2PPv, Rabies, and Bordetella. Both Canine Influenza vaccines (H3N2 and H3N8) are required for any dogs attending Day Camp and/or any group play. Also, there is a seven-day waiting period after the 2nd booster before they can attend Day Camp or group play. Day Camp must also have a clean fecal check every 6 months.

What is a Go Home Fresh Bath and how much does it cost?
Many pet owners notice that their dog’s natural odor becomes more noticeable after boarding. Our Go Home Fresh service is a bath and brush out before departure, so your best friends smells fresh and clean when you take him home. The charge varies, depending upon the size of your pet and type of coat that must be brushed out.

What do you charge for grooming services?
Grooming rates vary depending on the breed of your pet and the type of services you choose. Please discuss your pet’s needs with our staff to obtain an estimate.

Do you have professional groomers on staff?
Yes, we have a team of experienced stylists and groom techs and offer a full range of grooming services – from basic baths and brush outs to elaborate show cuts – seven days a week, 365 days a year. Please call us or stop in for a consult.

What is the difference between daycare and day camp?
When your pet stays at Best Friends for daycare, he is boarded in one of our comfortable doggy suites. Day camp is a group socialization session: dogs spend the day in exercise and play with other dogs under the supervision of a trained counselor.

Can my dog attend day camp while boarding?
No, Doggy Day Camp is a program strictly for local pets who attend weekly over the course of the year. For boarding pets who are social, we offer a Play-and-Stay option that includes four hours of group play each day. Please see the Rates page for pricing.

My dog isn’t neutered/spayed. Can he/she still play with other dogs?
Pets must be spayed or neutered to participate in playgroups or daycamp. Otherwise, they are welcome to board with us and partake in a one-on-one playtime with a Best Friends® associate.

What are the requirements for day camp?
To qualify for day camp, a dog must be at least five months old, spayed or neutered, with up-to-date vaccinations, and a negative fecal test every six months. They must also be dog-friendly. Prospective campers must complete an hour-long interview with their owner(s) present to ensure they will be comfortable in the group setting.
