So You Think Your Pet Should Be A Star
If you think your pet has what it takes to be a star, maybe he’s ready for a career in show business. There are many acting opportunities available for pets in television commercials and print advertising, but acting’s not for every pet. Here are a few things to consider on your pet’s path to rising stardom.
First, your pet’s temperament is one of the most important things to consider. He must be able to stay calm amidst crowds, bright lights and loud noises. He should also be comfortable with strangers, both human and animal. In addition, your pet should be well trained and obedient. Dogs, in particular, should know basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘heel’, though more advanced commands like playing dead, high-fiving, giving kisses and the like can be even better. When you’re training, make sure that you practice these tricks in a variety of settings, including busy and distracting ones. If necessary, enroll in an obedience class with your dog to brush up on his commands, or consider other classes like agility, herding and tracking.
Once your pet’s well-trained, take photos of him. Be sure to include some action shots that show off his tricks, or even take a video of him. You may also want to consider going to a professional photographer. There are many professionals who specialize in pets, and you’re likely to get better results that will make a better overall impression.
