Puppy Training

Puppies and Their Biting Habit

Biting can often occur while your dog plays with you and it is simply a natural part of dog’s nature. Nevertheless, you need to teach and train your puppy not to bite. You should start this process before your puppy is about four months old. Puppies usually learn to inhibit their biting habits from their mother, but since they are no longer with their mother they must learn this from their owners. Dog owners should take their puppies to socialization classes where they can interact with other puppies. They usually love playing and when the do, they tend to wrestle and bite each other. This aggressive reaction, however, is what teaches them that biting is wrong. They watch and feel how dangerous biting is and consequently learn to control such behavior. Furthermore, by socializing and playing with other dogs, your puppy will grow up not only fearless of other dogs, but also more friendly towards them.
