Your Puppy and the Stairs

To properly teach your puppy to go up and down the stairs without any fear you should begin by training him as slowly as possible. Place your puppy in front of a stair and go up one level. Call your puppy and encourage him to join you. You can use a toy to help entice him to come up. When he does, praise him for the progress he has made. Keep in mind, too, that even if you live on one level with no stairs, it’s best for your puppy to learn how to go up and down stairs. You never know when you might move and if your new house will have stairs or not.
