The Giant Schnauzer has a stiff, wiry coat that sheds little to no hair and doesn't produce a doggie odor. Nonetheless, frequent grooming and clipping is needed to keep the coat clean and free of tangles and mats. A short wire brush should be used on a weekly basis, and the whiskers cleaned after meals. Hair around the eyes and ears should be kept trimmed. Clipping is usually required in the spring and fall, and some owners also have their Schnauzers stripped. Find out more about dog grooming.
