Doggie Day Camp

But what exactly does your dog do at doggie day camp? That, of course, can vary from place to place, but you, or rather your dog, are likely not to be disappointed. Day cares come in all shapes and sizes with a variety of activities, specialties and prices. In general, though, they're patterned after any day care that you'd find for a child. There's playtime with other dogs and people, even with jungle gyms and slides, occasional outdoor play, healthy snacks, and nap time. In many centers you'll also find some learning time in the way of obedience classes. Some centers offer extras like grooming or ‘spa' services, wading pools, and even Petcams so that you can check on your pet via the Internet. And, of course, there are those who have taken it to the extreme, offering TVs and classical music for your dog, massages, the best bottled water and more.

Doggie day camp isn't for everyone, however. First, you'll need to provide your pet's medical history and proof of vaccinations. Your dog will also need to be screened or checked to make sure that he can get along with the other dogs and handlers. Provided that all that works out, though, you can bet that your dog is on his way to being one happy camper.
