One of the most important parts of dealing with dominance aggression problems is establishing dominance. In fact, every person in your household should establish dominance over your dog. Further, you need to become leader of the pack. Physical confrontation should not be used to do this, and you are best doing this with the assistance of an animal behavior specialist. When establishing dominance, take into account the following guidelines: ignore barking and jumping; don't allow begging and don't feed your dog from the table; don't play rough, wrestle or play tug-of-war; only allow your dog on the bed when he's been invited to do so; and always reward your dog for good or appropriate behavior.
Though an obedience class alone may not solve the problem, it can help so you may want to consider enrolling your dog in such a class. A really good training technique that you can do on your own is one in which you make your dog work for everything he gets from you. He must obey certain commands before he can get certain things, such as food, attention, a toy, a walk and so on. The easiest thing to do is to have him sit before getting these things. Be consistent when doing this and use positive reinforcement.
