Dana Murdock
Dana first graduated Purchase College with a B.A. in Literature, but had always wanted to work with animals. After graduating she began volunteering with an animal shelter, pet sitting and dog walking; which is where she decided to become a dog trainer.
Dana attended Triple Crown Academy for Dog Trainers in Hutto, Texas. There she learned the art of dog training, using shelter dogs as her students. While learning with them, Dana felt that at the same time she was helping them become more adoptable. She was trained in areas such as basic obedience through off leash work, agility, Canine Good Citizen, trick training, behavior modification, basic service dogs, search and rescue, puppy selection/raising, and kennel management. The school also taught her different methods of training such as clicker training, training collars, and hand gestures. Dana graduated Triple Crown with a certification in "Canine Training and Behavior Specialist". She did not come away from Texas with just a certification, but a dog as well. Pasha, a Boarder Collie mix, came from a local shelter and was one of the many dogs Dana trained throughout her schooling process.
Dana’s goal working at Best Friends is to help the relationship between dog and owner be as happy and healthy as it can be by increasing the communication between the two.
