Our company was founded in 1991 as Windsor Pet Care with the objective of becoming the first nationwide chain in the pet boarding business. We began by acquiring well-established, strategically-located boarding kennels across the U.S.

By 1995, we took the first steps toward differentiating ourselves by creating a unique new brand: Best Friends Pet Resorts & Salons.

At the same time, we began to apply the knowledge we had gained by serving thousands of pet lovers across the country - people who wanted a higher level of care for their pets. In 1996, we broke new ground by designing and building the prototype for a state-of-the-art pet care facility that offered an unprecedented level of safety, comfort and service.

Customers were enthusiastic, and Best Friends moved quickly to build more of these new concept centers. Since that time, we have also made strategic acquisitions in markets we have targeted for their excellent demographics and financial opportunity.

In 2001, Best Friends was acquired by a private investment firm. With new resources behind it, the company is investing in its existing facilities and has begun preparations for its next stage of growth.
