Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Cats

Inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, is a medical condition caused by a severe inflammation of the bowels. IBD can lead to poor digestion and absorption of nutrients. Symptoms may include chronic vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and/or change in appetite. IBD is sometimes misdiagnosed as a hairball problem.

If you suspect that your cat may have IBD, have her seen by your veterinarian. Treatment options include prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and special hypoallergenic diets.
