Hepatic Lipidosis in Cats

Hepatic Lipidosis, also known as Fatty Liver Disease, is an accumulation of fats in the liver tissue. This occurs in previously overweight cats who have stopped eating for some period of time. Symptoms may include depression, lethargy, jaundice, and vomiting.

Blood tests are necessary to diagnose hepatic lipidosis. Treatment is possible, though this disease was previously considered fatal and still can be. Early diagnosis is essential. Treatment may include feeding the cat through a tube and prescribing supportive medication.
