“Sunday with Max the Pug” Wins Pet Personality Video Contest

Max the Pug and his “dad” Martin McCue have won the Grand Prize in the Best Friends Pet Care “Be Your Own Dog” Pet Personality Video Contest for their submission, “Sunday with Max the Pug”. Max’s prize includes a professional photo shoot and the opportunity to show off his award-winning personality on a Best Friends billboard near his hometown of Derry, NH.

The 60-second video shows the pug pestering Martin to get him out of bed on a Sunday morning. The contest judges said they selected the video because it best fulfilled the contest criteria, receiving top scores for originality, entertainment value and video quality. The winning video is posted on Best Friends Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Bestfriendspetcareinc.

“There were many fun entries and the judges had a great time screening the finalists,” said Best Friends Vice President of Marketing Renee Coughlin. “The final tally was very close, but when all the votes were counted, Max edged out the competition by a pug’s tail.”

Best Friends launched the “Be Your Own Dog” video contest to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary of caring for unique pet personalities. The entries included videos of dogs, cats, rabbits, a ferret and even a turtle. Ten runners-up will receive a free weekend of boarding at any of Best Friends Pet Care center.

Finalists were determined by the number of votes each entry received on Facebook. The finalists were scored by the judges on six factors: how well the video showcased the dog’s personality, originality and creativity, entertainment value, cuteness factor, video quality and compliance with the technical requirements. The panel of five judges included specialists from marketing, advertising, design, public relations and digital media.

Max is a six-year-old pug with his own website (www.mypugmax.com) and Martin teaches TV production at Salem High School in Salem, NH.
