Elbow calluses most commonly occur in large breed dogs. It's believed that they occur from pressure when a dog lies on a hard surface. Though mild calluses are typically not a concern, they can become larger or infected, in which case your dog may require treatment by your veterinarian. Providing your dog with soft bedding or padding is the best way to prevent elbow calluses from occurring.
