Bathing Tips

Brush First

Before bathing, first brush your pet to remove dirt. However, be very careful to brush gently and not scratch the skin as shampoo can be irritating to raw skin.

Shampoo Tips

  • Never use human shampoos or dishwashing liquid on your cat or dog.
  • The best shampoos are natural ones that are chemical-free.
  • Try to use natural flea shampoos instead of chemical flea shampoos as some of the chemicals designed to kill fleas have actually been proven to be toxic for humans and animals.
  • Even if you're using a ‘tearless' shampoo, avoid using shampoo around the eyes and never scrub the eye area.
  • Don't mix your shampoo and conditioner. Instead, make sure that the shampoo is thoroughly rinsed clean before applying conditioner.

Rinse Well

It's particularly important that you make sure to rinse your pet very well. Even if you think he's rinsed clean, give him an extra rinsing to be safe.
